Beyond the Face

Perhaps a self-portrait is not always about recognising a face.

Sometimes, it is about recognising a feeling —
the colours we carry,
the things we cannot put into words,
the parts of ourselves that exist quietly beneath the surface.

This is not how I look.
It is how I feel.
